The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary concert tour is heading to Melbourne

During a dedicated Nintendo Direct, the company mapped out a full year of releases and events built around The Legend of Zelda. It runs from a remade classic through to a worldwide concert series and a live-action film, and the Australian leg of that concert tour opens right here in Melbourne.

Leading the games news is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, rebuilt for Nintendo Switch 2 with overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, symphonic orchestral music and smoother movement. The 1998 favourite arrives 5 November, with early physical copies scoring textured foil cover art while stocks last. One nostalgia-friendly touch: hum or play a melody Link has learned near the console’s microphone and he’ll perform it in-game, while a companion app piles on extras like a daily quiz packing more than 2,000 questions.

The 40th Anniversary Concert series travels the globe across 2027, weaving older nostalgic tunes together with modern orchestral arrangements. Tokyo opens proceedings, followed by North American dates starting in Chicago and a European run out of London, before the Australian tour launches in Melbourne in May 2027.

There’s plenty more in the anniversary haul. Nintendo is rolling out an anniversary edition Switch 2 console and matching accessories dressed in Triforce designs, playable and electric ocarinas, new Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo figures in 2027, and a stack of collectibles from Lego and Hasbro. Existing Zelda titles across Switch and Switch 2 round things out for anyone keen to revisit Hyrule right now.

For the deep divers, Ocarina of Time’s Switch 2 revamp goes well beyond a fresh coat of paint. A day/night cycle now ticks over everywhere, including towns; a Threads of Time feature lets you check your story progress and next objective at any point, with a tapestry gradually filling in as you go; and the ZELDA NOTES companion service adds daily accomplishment tracking, hint-image location hunts and a shareable virtual ocarina.

Mineru’s Construct amiibo for Tears of the Kingdom also arrives 17 September for anyone already deep in that adventure.

Then there’s the big screen. The Legend of Zelda live-action film, made with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Arad Productions, opens in cinemas worldwide on 30 April 2027. Rather than adapting a single game, it draws on four decades of ideas and stories from across the series.
