The Gasometer Hotel's first 24-hour party in its 166-year history is hitting Collingwood this February, featuring local legends and international guests.

In what organisers are calling a monumental moment for Melbourne’s club scene, Moniker presents Maratona, transforming the iconic Smith Street venue into a multi-level exploration of dance music and community. The event marks the first time in the venue’s century-and-a-half existence that punters will witness a sunrise from within its walls.

While the main dancefloor under the venue’s famous arches will host the bulk of the programming, organisers have promised to utilise every corner of the heritage-listed building. The upstairs area will serve as a dedicated chill-out space, with several previously unused areas of the hotel opened up specifically for the marathon event.

Maratona details:

The carefully curated lineup spans local and international talent, including Canadian electronic artist RAMZi performing live, Luxembourg’s Lolo, Finnish selector Hannah D & Liz Jeku, and hometown heroes Moopie, Zjoso, and the Baby G & DAWS duo.

The ticketing structure accommodates different party approaches, with Saturday entry, Sunday entry, and full weekend pass options available. Those holding single-day passes can re-enter at a discounted rate, though no passouts will be permitted between 04:00 and 07:00.

True to Moniker’s ethos of inclusivity, the event features gender-neutral bathrooms, wheelchair accessibility on the ground floor, and a strobe-free environment. First Nations people are offered complimentary entry by contacting organisers directly.

“In our ever-quest for alterity, we have been yearning for something new,” says Tom Gledhill from Moniker. “This is monumental, and we feel so excited to be able to share the first sunrise in the venue’s 166 years of operation with you.”
