Ten bands everyone should know about:

Dawes, Agnes Obel, Half Moon Run, Angel Olsen,The Milk Carton Kids,Lisa O’Neill,Benjalu,Beth Orton,Chelsea Wolfe, Liz Stringer.

Eight possessions that define you:

Cameo pendant that my Grandma gave me years ago (it was her great aunty’s), my beautiful Martin 00-15 guitar I bought in Austin for $850,antique upright piano I bought on eBay for $50 (I’m all about bargains), my compass ring which represents touring, stacks of journals I get halfway through before getting bored and moving onto the next journal, book of notes from my favourite people, tobacco and Patchouli Apothecary Candle,Joni Mitchell Blue vinyl.

Seven favourite movies/TV shows that go on your mix-tape:

Friends, Practical MagicJeux d’enfantsCriminal MindsAmerican Horror StoryCharmedPrimal Fear.

Six bad habits you can’t escape:

Cracking my joints, being a slave to my phone, not listening when someone is talking to me, zoning out, leg shaking, never quite grasping an easy solution and always taking the long way.

Five people who inspire you:

Joni Mitchell, my talented artist friend Lisa Businovski, my friend Candice McLeod who inspires me to do things I’m afraid of, grandma, Leonardo DiCaprio (I suspect he might actually be Jesus).

Four things that turn you on:

Mixture of mild cologne and cigarettes, black humour, risks, heightened sense of passion.

Three goals for your music:

Connect, relate, never go against instinct.

Two live gigs you’ll never forget and why:

Paul Simon, April 2013 at Sydney Entertainment Centre. I went alone (which was awesome) and wept like a baby for most of it, Laura Marling, July 2013, St Stephens Uniting Church. I was front row and very startled by her. She was like a really petite goddess.

One day left before the apocalypse and you…

Scream my feelings to everyone I care about. Fine dine. Jump off a cliff into the ocean.

When’s the gig?

The Melbourne Folk Club on Wednesday April 30. The Little Stevies and Davidson Brothers open the show with an “in the round” set and then I’ll finish up the night.
