On February 16, otherwise known as Big Festival Saturday, the Espy will become a hotspot of live music and cold beer.
The Espy is bringing the heat this St Kilda Festival with a free street party featuring some of the country’s most explosive up-and-coming talent. The Pollington Street takeover, scheduled for February 16, will kick off at midday and run well into the evening, showcasing a diverse lineup that spans from hard rock to electronic beats.
Leading the charge are Perth rockers The Southern River Band, fresh off signing with Cooking Vinyl Australia and riding high from their first ARIA top 50 album, D.I.Y.

The Thornlie natives have been steadily building momentum since their formation in 2013, with their latest release marking a significant milestone in their decade-long journey. They’ll be joined by Brisbane’s psychedelic outfit Full Flower Moon Band, whose raw sound and mesmerizing performances have been capturing the attention of east coast underground music lovers.
Adding a softer touch to the proceedings is Kat Edwards, the Melbourne-via-Hobart songwriter whose origin story – being born in the back of a car in Canberra – is as unique as her melodic stylings. The 23-year-old artist’s return to her adopted hometown marks a highlight of the summer festival circuit, bringing her intimate songcraft to the street party atmosphere.
Local favourites Sleepazoid will deliver their signature mind-bending sounds to the afternoon crowd, while Lewis Ciavarella rounds out the live band lineup with his distinctive approach to guitar-driven rock. As the summer sun begins to set, Brisbane’s certified party starter Young Franco will take over The Gershwin Room, promising to keep the good vibes flowing well into the night with his infectious electronic selections.
The free event continues St Kilda Festival’s proud tradition of championing Australian music while ensuring zero barriers to entry. From garage rock to electronic beats, the programming showcases the breadth of talent emerging from every corner of the country.
This year’s street party looks set to transform Pollington Street into the epicentre of Melbourne’s music scene, if only for one glorious summer afternoon, bringing together music lovers from across the city for a celebration of local talent.
