The festival’s traditional Big Festival Sunday will see Peter Garrett & The Alter Egos headlining alongside three-time ARIA winner Sarah Blasko, electronic artist Young Franco, and Cub Sport. The event spans multiple precincts, with Julia Jacklin’s Phantastic Ferniture and emerging artist Sycco performing at Catani Gardens North Stage.
Family entertainment features prominently in the program, with the Optus Stage hosting children’s performers including “The Wiggles'” DJ Dorothy the Dinosaur before transitioning to alternative acts later in the day. The stage will also include a Youth Safe Space with gaming activities.
The festival continues its tradition of nurturing emerging talent through the New Music Competition, which has previously launched the careers of Missy Higgins and Baker Boy. Ten finalists will compete for a $5,000 prize and a spot in next year’s lineup.
“We encourage audiences to come down and take the time to explore the various festival precincts; while you may come to see a familiar act, the excitement lies in discovering the fresh talent that the festival offers,” says St Kilda Festival Lead Sullivan Patten.
Beyond music, the festival will feature the Hare Krishna Vedic Village, the Ratha Yatra Chariot Parade, and street performances along Acland Street. Fitzroy Street will host a new stage at its intersection with Acland Street, supported by The Prince of Wales, alongside a POOF DOOF activation.
In a change from previous years, the festival will conclude earlier, with programming ending at 9:30pm to encourage attendees to support local venues afterwards.
The two-day celebration will feature additional performances from Painters and Dockers, Allysha Joy, Velvet Trip, and local icon Penny Ikinger, spread across various stages including the new Catani Gardens South Stage and the Local Stage at Alfred Square.
