A sparse, creeping indie ballad that builds towards a middling blast of operatic rock. Sydney’s Stray Birds seem to be emulating Coldplay or Radiohead circa OK Computer, but with far less ambition than either of those bands. The song is a little flat. They try for delicacy and sound sleepy, they try to rock out and sound as though they’re heaving the guitars around, struggling with the weight. The sweeping lift and heart-pummelling arrangements of really great stadium rock aren’t there.
