The elements are all present on Put Your Curse On Me, but young rockers Stonefield can’t quite piece them together for a satisfying whole. The lashings of gospel choir are an ostentatious touch, and hey, that’s what rock ‘n’ roll is all about. However it doesn’t gel quite right with the Wolfmother-standard rawk on offer, the chorus not quite strong enough to justify a clunky, bridge-less segue from the tempo-shifting verse. Still, the ambition is there, and the shout-out to the venerable Holden HQ is a nice touch of ‘Strayana.
