St Kilda Blues Festival returns for its eighth year with 70+ free gigs across the suburb

Words by staff writer

St Kilda Blues Festival is back for 2026, transforming the beachside precinct into a blues and roots playground.

The free festival runs from 27 February to 1 March, spreading 40+ artists across 70+ shows in pubs, clubs and street stages throughout St Kilda.

Now in its eighth year, the event has become a fixture on the local calendar, championing grassroots live music and the venues that keep it alive. Expect roaming street performances alongside the venue-based program, turning the whole neighbourhood into one sprawling stage.

The first lineup announcement features Hussy Hicks, Geoff Achison, Kim Volkman, Cold Snap, Rod Paine & The Fulltime Lovers, Sweet Felicia and The Honeytones, and Cam Walter Blues, with more local, national and international acts still to come.

The festival’s venue-hopping format means punters can wander between spots, catching different acts without paying a cent. It’s the kind of weekend where you can stumble into a pub, discover a band you’ve never heard of, and walk out a convert.

More artists will be announced in the lead-up to the festival.
