Melbourne alt-rock outfit Society of Beggars will hit the road this autumn, touring their newly released album Levitator across four major cities.
The tour announcement follows widespread acclaim for their debut full-length record, which showcases the band’s signature blend of heavy riffs and introspective songwriting. Standout tracks include the title track Levitator, anthemic God Mode, and the slower-burning All the Houses Have Their Lights On. The album chronicles the band’s personal journey through grief, with siblings Yianni and Jim Michalopoulos processing the loss of their father through their songcraft.
The four-piece, known for their explosive live performances, will present cuts from Levitator alongside material from their 2017 EP An EP Called Night. Tracks like Well of Wishes and Mood Rings are set to take on new life in the intimate venues chosen for this run of shows.
Society of Beggars tour dates:
- Friday 14 March – The Hotel Metro, Tarndanya/Adelaide w/ After Dark & Night Rites
- Thursday 27 March – The Lansdowne, Warrang/Sydney (Free Entry)
- Sunday 30 March – Black Bear Lodge, Meanjin/Brisbane w/ Adjoa & Eyecolour

“When you’re feeling that manic energy that comes with grief, it can be all-consuming… but it’s also a powerful source of connection,” says frontman Yianni Michalopoulos. “Our drummer Dibi and bassist Zoë Alexa’s deep friendship and musical bond gave us the foundation to create something truly special. This tour is for everyone who’s connected with the album, and we can’t wait to share it live.”
The band has carefully curated local support acts for each show, with Adelaide’s After Dark and Night Rites, Brisbane’s Adjoa & Eyecolour, and Melbourne’s Palpitations joining the bill in their respective cities. Sydney’s show at the Lansdowne will be free entry.
