Sam Green

Born with the name Sam Green, so I go under that. But the search engines wouldn’t list me, so I listed myself as Sam Green And The Time Machine, where I shot to number one around the world.

What’s your name then? Oh. And the name of your band…

"Born with the name Sam Green, so I go under that. But the search engines wouldn’t list me, so I listed myself as Sam Green And The Time Machine, where I shot to number one around the world. There are many Sam Green’s, but only one who was a watchmaker. And also a singer/songwriter performer ."

And what do you do?

"I write songs, record and perform with other musicians. People say it’s a cross between James Taylor and Van Morrison, only original, with a sweet voice."

When did you start doing that?

"I started writing my own songs at 19, before then I did skits around campfires and meetings of friends. We would sing the latest songs on the air, but change the words to suit the scene of the moment. Like ‘we all live in a yellow submarine’ was changed to ‘we all live in a run-down flat, so fancy that’."

Why did you start doing that?

"Group pressure. I was always singing and things fell in to place. Performing is a buzz, especially in front of many people as many as possible. After you connect you make friends: more people, more friends, easy on the mind. An easy way to meet people, and connect."

Do you think you’re good at doing that?

"Practice makes perfect. We learn from those before us. We learn from those to come. We are on a road, we learn the rules of the game. I think I’m good at watching the world go by. And fitting in some place in between."

If you weren’t doing that, what would you be doing?

"Studying, travelling, drinking and eating good food. Trying to love someone. Maybe write a book. Maybe teach my songs to those who would listen."

What makes you happiest about what you’re doing?

"Good feedback, making people happy: these things make me happiest."

And what makes you unhappiest about what you’re doing?

"Not enough hours in the day to get through everything."

What’s you proudest moment of doing what you do?

"The proudest moment was getting a letter from the Queen, which is on my website, stating she was pleased."

And your least proud?

"When everything goes wrong. It doesn’t happen much. Through experience you learn to fake it. And face the day."

When are you doing your thing next?

"As with most artists I am looking for the next gig. If you like what you hear give me a ring look it up on my website mrmusicman.com or samgreen.com."
