RISING has extended its hit exhibition Swingers — The Art of Mini Golf until 21 September.

The playable art exhibition, which has taken over the entire upper level of Flinders Street Station, was originally scheduled to close on 31 August but has been given a three-week extension due to popular demand. Since opening during RISING’s 2025 festival, Swingers — The Art of Mini Golf has attracted over 25,000 players and consistently sold out sessions.

Curated by RISING’s Grace Herbert, the exhibition features a surreal nine-hole course designed by innovative female artists from around the world. The lineup includes acclaimed filmmaker and artist Miranda July from the US, celebrated Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara artist Kaylene Whiskey, Tokyo-based performance artist Saeborg, and Australian sculptor Nabilah Nordin, alongside Delaine LeBas from the UK and Natasha Tontey from Indonesia.

The exhibition draws on the radical feminist history of mini golf, with each artist reimagining the game through their own creative lens. Minister for Creative Industries Colin Brooks described it as a highlight of this year’s RISING festival, praising the unique playable exhibition for attracting diverse audiences to the iconic Flinders Street Ballroom.

Herbert noted the exhibition has hosted families, friend groups and dates, with one proposal even taking place in the ballroom. Fans can purchase exclusive Miranda July merchandise at Flinders Street Station or through RISING’s website.

Early booking is recommended for the extended season, with tickets available through rising.melbourne.
