‘Revolutions: Records & Rebels’ is bringing music history to Melbourne Museum

The exhibition launches this weekend with a huge opening party.

Originating from London’s Victoria & Albert Museum, an exhibition exploring the revolutionary period from 1966 until 1970 through music, fashion, art and culture is coming to Melbourne Museum.

Revolutions: Records & Rebels will bring over 500 objects and priceless artefacts to Melbourne Museum to paint a picture of the period, including John Lennon’s famous Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club suit as well as the late singer’s reading glasses, Mick Jagger’s stage costume, a guitar smashed by The Who’s Pete Townshend and an immersive Woodstock visual experience.

To launch the exhibition, Victoria & Albert Museum senior curator and the mind behind critically acclaimed exhibitions such as David Bowie Is, Victoria Broakes, will present an exclusive Curator’s Lecture in the Museum Theatre. Along with the chance to absorb some music and cultural history, there’ll be plenty of fun happening on the exhibition opening day, too. A Northside Records pop-up shop will be on site to satisfy your crate digging needs, there’ll be a live performance from a supergroup featuring members of Paul Kelly Band, JET and RocKwiz Orkestra, and loads more.
