Melbourne favourites Camp Cope have announced their hotly anticipated second full-length. Following up 2016’s acclaimed self-titled debut, new record How to Socialise and Make Friends is due out Friday March 2 on Poison City Records. Explained by the band as focussing on “The cycles of life, loss and growth through resilience and those moments of finding and being yourself,” the record promises to be more of the teaser lead single ‘The Opener’, released last month. Iconic ‘80s punk/thrash/metal label Combat Records has announced their return to releasing new music. Known for releasing landmark albums by the likes of Agnostic Front, Circle Jerks, Nuclear Assault and most famously Megadeth, the label will release new albums from classic bands and newcomers. Megadeth bassist and label manager Dave Ellefson explained the revival, “Today is a really exciting day, as after over a year, it was finally announced that we will be relaunching the legendary Combat Records as a new label through EMP Label Group. So excited and honoured to be able to revive such an iconic brand that was so instrumental to my history.” Stay tuned for new releases in the new year.
Recently revived Australian punk rock originators The Victims have released a new single, their first since the 1978 landmark ‘Television Addict’. A reworking of an older song the group had in the vaults, new single ‘Charlie’is an unloving send-off to the recently departed mass-murderer Charles Manson. The reformed lineup of the band features original members Dave Faulkner and James Baker, plus the addition of Hard-Ons bassist Ray Ahn. The single is available to stream on YouTube now, with word of a vinyl 7” release coming in 2018.
In an unexpected move, long-running pop punks Green Day have released a music video for their single ‘2000 Light Years Away’, 25 years after its original release in 1992. Coinciding with the recent release of the band’s second greatest hits album (superseding 2001’s International Superhits) entitled God’s Favorite Band, the track marks the inclusion of the re-acquisition of Lookout Records-era tracks under the band’s ownership, as these were not included in the band’s first greatest hits record. God’s Favorite Band will also feature two new songs from the band, plus the band’s hits released since 2001, most notably those from the mega-hit American Idiot.
New York post-hardcore icons Glassjaw have unexpectedly announced the release of a new full-length record, the band’s first since 2002’s Worship and Tribute. Entitled Material Control, the record is available now on Century Media.
