With his band in the midst of an extended hiatus, Interpol frontman Paul Banks has ditched the Julian Plenti alter-ego for Banks – his second solo album., due out this Ocober. On The Base, Banks’ droll baritone and distinctive guitar tones remain present, but there’s also a reach into falsetto territory in the pristine chorus. He doesn’t exactly sound happier, but Banks definitely seems more assured.
