Palace Foreshore brings the best of St Kilda’s bar and dining culture together alongside killer live music

Palace Foreshore
Words by Dom Lepore

The bayside venue offers plenty of local snacks and treats to accompany concertgoers attending its epic outdoor summer gigs.

Set in Melbourne’s iconic seaside live music precinct, the Palace Foreshore is gearing up to present a stunning roster of international talent until the end of the summer.

Honey Dijon, Fontaines D.C., Denzel Curry, and The Kooks are some artists set to deliver rapturous performances at the Palace Foreshore. The program, lasting from 27 February to 16 March, also features numerous other eclectic and party-ready international talent, which you can read up on here.

If the incredibly euphoric music wasn’t enough, the Palace Foreshore provides an extensive culinary experience on its Street Eats precinct, chockers with food trucks slinging artisanal bites to keep punters’ tummies full while they bop.

Fully stocked bars also form part of the experience (of course), with cider from Somersby, beer from Mountain Goat, Archie Rose gin, El Jimador tequila and Jack from, well, Jack Daniels, all on offer. Palace Foreshore promises to be an unmissable live music experience in the company of Port Philip Bay’s stunning sunset views.

What’s more, Stokehouse Pasta & Bar is offering an express dining offer available to be booked pre-show. It’s a beachfront gem where European flavours meet Australian style. Enjoy fresh, house-made pasta and share-style dishes at this all-day eatery, perfect for long lunches and sunset cocktails by the sand.

Nuggies

This beloved food truck transforms the common chicken nugget into a culinary masterpiece. Breaded and fried to perfection, these crispy, golden bundles of joy come with a range of sauces and toppings. In a spicy wrap, drizzled with honey soy or dusted with salt and vinegar, there’s truly nothing better than a bunch of nugs. Do it for your inner child.

Primo Street Pizza

In my festival-going experience, I’ve found the line for the pizza spot is often the longest, and for good reason. Easy to share, quick to make, filling and satisfying, a pizza always hits the spot. Primo Street is known for its Neopolitan-style, wood-fired pies. The dough, fermented for 48 hours, comes out of the oven chewy and dotted with charred bubbles of crust.

I’ll say it: one of life’s greatest pleasures is drunkenly chowing down on a souvlaki at a plastic table or sitting on a patch of grass. If you need a little late-night bite, Yia Yia offers ginormous portions of Greek goodness, including halloumi-tops chips, meat boxes and souvis for days.

Fritz’s Wieners

Fritz’s Wieners are bringing the traditional German bratwurst to homegrown turf with a flurry of twists. Pack on the flavour with the bacon bratwurst, an extra two stripes of streaky bacon, or go double trouble with the double banger – any two bratwursts in a bun. If you wanna get adventurous, try the flavour punch that is the currywurst – a bratwurst diced into bite-sized pieces, topped with German curry ketchup and a sprinkling of curry powder.

Smashville

If you want a juicy, succulent burger, Smashville has you covered. They bring mouth-watering, authentic Nashville-style burgers all over Melbourne. Feast on the deluxe cheeseburger with double brisket patties and double American cheddar, loaded with toppings like butter lettuce, tomato, white onion, pickles, and its own Smashville source. They have more scrumptious fried options, like the Southern-fried and Nashville hot chicken, as well as the vegan Plant Smash made with a BUDS plant-based patty.

The Li’l Dumpling Van

Handmade with love from Geelong, The Li’l Dumpling Van provides fresh and natural dumplings as a delicious and healthy food alternative at many bustling events, notably making its way recently to Beyond The Valley. Concertgoers will be wowed by the fun colours of the dumplings’ wrappers or the radish-ing vegan option. Stuffed with healthy fillings, the dumplings are a no-brainer for hungry concertgoers.

Billy van Creamy

Enjoy a decadent, artisanal sweet from Billy van Creamy’s range of natural ice creams and sorbets. They’re made from high-quality local and seasonal ingredients and they avoid artificial flavours and colours at all costs. Go comfortable with classic flavours like vanilla and chocolate, or change it up with vegan options like peanut butter choc chip and peppermint fudge.

Juicello

Juicello’s cold-pressed juices and mocktails are the perfect blend of flavour and wellness for the sweltering summer season. A good swig of an invigorating dehydrated fruit beverage, featuring pineapple, green apple and even blood orange, will keep you going throughout the show.
