The self-titled “wrecking crew” Overkill announced their 2018 Australian tour dates. Continuing to keep fans on their feet, the band will be bringing The Grinding Wheel tour to Australian shores in 2018, giving fans time to prepare both mind and body for this sonic assault. You can witness New Jersey thrash legends Overkill at 170 Russell on Friday March 2, with presale tickets released on Wednesday November 8 before general sale on Friday November 10.

Overkill first came to Australia in 2010, creating a frenzy amongst fans with their first announcement of shows. The integrity and authenticity of their shows had fans thinking it was 1986 all over again.

The Grinding Wheel is their latest album, devoted to the quality of life one expects of trenches. It is made up of head-banging and thought-provoking songs. When writing the album, Overkill looked to Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and punk influences.

“You’re not going to hear any Green Day or Ramones in us,” says D.D Verni, a founding member of Overkill. “But the energy and the attitude of punk mixed with the New York vibe, that’s what Overkill is. You don’t hear any of that in Megadeath, you don’t hear any of that in Slayer. It’s more specific to what we brought to the thrash world.”

Since forming in 1985, Overkill have changed shape and evolved into the forefathers of the genre, setting the benchmark for thrash metal After four decades and 18 studio albums, Overkill continues to wow crowds with their New Jersey thrash metal and show no sign of slowing down.
