Nth Rd are playing an album launch show in Brunswick this Friday

Nth Rd

The Melbourne four piece are releasing their debut EP 'Panic'.

The Melbourne trailblazers are bringing their well crafted songs and heavy sound to Stay Gold this Friday, September 23. You can catch them again on Friday October 7 at Bad Decisions Bar. In their newest release, they’ve drawn influence from a heavier, more substantive place, arriving at a sound that fused their familiar rock sensibilities with the downtuned riffage of old school nu metal and metalcore.

Check out Melbourne’s most comprehensive gig guide here.

Panic is a collection of songs detailing the different stages of a panic attack response,” the band say. “The songs were all written prior to the pandemic, but began to take on new meaning once the recording stage began. After a whole year of lockdowns in Melbourne, the beginning of 2021 saw us finally record these songs, after being unable to write together or even be in the same room together for such a long period of time.

At times, it was very difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but despite this hardship, almost two whole years of isolation from each other has only brought us closer. We are so excited to finally share the songs that we’ve poured so much passion, time and energy into.”

The second track in Panic, check out the video for ‘Worm’. “Worm is the second track, and this song is by far the heaviest track we’ve ever released! We had so much fun working with the legend Martin Wood to create the video for this song,” the band say. “Worm relates to the physical moment of panic, where the fight-or-flight response occurs; as a single, it represents the heavier aspects of the EP. We aimed to encapsulate the feeling of fear and alarm from the very first second of this song!”

Drawing influence from a heavier, more substantive place, Nth Rd arrived at a sound that fused their familiar rock sensibilities with the downtuned riffage of old school nu metal and metalcore. Enlisting the help of producer Christopher Vernon (Better Half, Belle Haven), the band created a collection of tracks that explored feelings of claustrophobia and panic; the latter of which would become the title of the project.
