Careers launching, eras ending and a slew of tours keep the Bandroom busy all month long.
It’s a big one for the Bergy Bandroom, spanning the full range from exclusive Naarm shows to debut albums, single launches and fond farewell performances. The smorgasbord of sound encompasses synth, metalcore, alt-rock, post-punk and various flavours of pop from global and local talent.
Catch everything from dreamy experimental music to soundscape impressions of distant cities, thumping alt-rock and up-and-coming queer and neurodivergent artists offering a breath of fresh air in the local scene.

The Refuge: Heart in my Hands single launch

Off the back of their regional Vic tour, The Refuge are coming to the Bandroom to launch their new single, Heart in my Hands. This outfit from The Otways have spent the past 10 years honing their live performances, performing with The Vasco Era, Dr Colossus, The Maggie Pills and The Murlocs, among others. Their sound is influenced by bands like Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden, drawing qualities from psychedelic, punk, new wave and heavy metal.

At just 18 years old, Kaiyah Mercedes has already found her own voice in the scene. Her songwriting explores her experience of being an LGBTQIA+ youth with autism and ADHD but through the light touch of indie pop rock. The entire lineup features all queer and neurodivergent artists for a unique showcase of local talent.

Prepare to be enchanted by the dreamy vibes, experimental sound and striking vocals of Norwegian alt-pop artist, Oliné. Channelling qualities of Björk, AURORA and Kate Bush, with a fusion of pop, trap, funk and rock, her emotional live performances are already acclaimed since moving to Naarm just last year. (Fun fact, this seasoned pro has been recording since she was 2 and was the Norwegian voice actor for Boo in Monsters, Inc!)

Meanjin alt-pop duo JUNO are hitting the bandroom with their high-energy pop anthems. Comprised of frontwoman Kahlia Ferguson and songwriter/bassist Sam Woods, they’ve gone from recording in their little home studio to Australia-wide festival tours and New Caledonia’s Live en Aout Festival, touring and supporting acts like Peking Duk, girli (UK) and Blu Detiger (US).
