The loveably dysfunctional quartet – consisting of mates Stefan Babcock, Steve Sladkowski, Zack Mykula and Nestor Chumak – have spent the past decade cementing their reputation for delivering what the Washington Post described as “raucous sets filled with singalong anthems,” while Pitchfork praised their “supremely hooky” sound.
Their latest offering, Who Will Look After The Dogs, drops on May 5 and promises to continue the band’s tradition of turning emotional turmoil into mosh-worthy gold. The 12-track album reportedly finds frontman Babcock at his most reflective and vulnerable, digging into life’s relationships and existential crises with PUP’s characteristic blend of wit and raw emotion.
For the uninitiated, PUP (which stands for Pathetic Use of Potential – a mood) have been steadily climbing the punk rock ranks since Rolling Stone named them one of 2014’s breakout rock acts. Their 2016 album The Dream Is Over scored spots on best-of lists from NME and Kerrang, while 2019’s Morbid Stuff landed them in year-end rankings from Rolling Stone, NME, The Guardian and Guitar World.
Festival appearances at Lollapalooza, SXSW, Reading and Leeds have bolstered their live reputation, as have support slots for punk heavyweights like Sum 41, The Hives and Jimmy Eat World.
Fans can expect a sweaty, cathartic night featuring tracks from their entire discography, including PUP, The Dream Is Over, Morbid Stuff and THE UNRAVELING OF PUPTHEBAND alongside fresh cuts from the new record.
Early bird presale kicks off Thursday, March 27 at 9:00AM local time (sign up access required), with general tickets dropping Friday, March 28 at 9:00AM through Destroy All Lines.
