Brower, the New York power pop outfit fronted by Nat Brower, are touring Australia for the first time this November.
The project began life as a strictly solo affair, with Brower writing, recording, producing and shooting his own videos out of a low-budget bedroom studio. He handled the merch and artwork too, keeping the whole operation firmly DIY.
That ethos carried into 2018 debut Buzzsaws, which welded grinding fuzz guitars to bright, sugary vocal hooks, landing somewhere near the junkshop glam 45s of the 1970s. Follow-up album Flour arrived in 2024 with a looser, more adventurous streak, its maximalist, Beach Boys-leaning arrangements pieced together at home in Queens.

For the Australian run, Brower fills out to a four-piece, with fellow power pop musician Josephine Network joining players drawn from Dirty Fences, Hershguy Band, SUO, Nancy and Metalleg. On stage the band chases the big, boots-and-all sound of classic arena rockers like Cheap Trick, Thin Lizzy and Status Quo, only squeezed into the sort of small rooms where that racket hits hardest.
Beyond the two albums there’s Live & Contagious, a 2021 live record, plus an ongoing singles project called Singles ’25-’26. That collection is being drip-fed track by track through Bandcamp and Patreon, with 16 of a planned 26 songs already out, spanning solo cuts and full-band takes.
The trek opens with a free show on the Central Coast on 18 November, then winds through Sydney, Thirroul and Canberra before crossing into Victoria. Support comes from a rotating cast of locals, including Tee Vee Repairmann, Genius Boys, Love Banana, New Age Group and Absent Lovers across the various dates.
The Melbourne date lands at The Curtin on 27 November, where local power pop names The Prize, Elvis II and Stepmother round out the bill, with DJ Billiam holding down the room downstairs into the small hours. The band also drops into Castlemaine on 28 November and Frankston on 29 November to close out the Victorian leg.
