Comedy crew Sooshi Mango crowned as Melbourne's new Moomba monarchs for 2025.
Local comedy sensations Sooshi Mango will helm Melbourne’s beloved Moomba Festival as this year’s monarchs, bringing their signature ethnic dad characters to the party.
The comedy trio – brothers Carlo and Joe Salanitri and their mate Andrew Manfre – have racked up over a billion views for their relatable European-inspired skits. When they’re not making people laugh online, they’re serving up pasta at their Lygon Street restaurant Johnny, Vince & Sam’s Ristorante.

The five-day festival returns with a massive program including the iconic Birdman Rally, where the newly crowned kings will take their royal plunge into the Yarra alongside 13 other charitable daredevils.
This year’s parade promises to be bigger than ever, featuring 1600 performers and seven new floats, including a special Best Party Ever creation made with the Children’s Cancer Foundation. A Wurundjeri float, designed by artist Alex Kerr, will make its debut appearance.
Pop sensation Peach PRC is set to headline a free concert at Federation Square on Sunday 9 March, joined by Carla Wehbe and George Alice as part of Open Air at the Square.
The festival will feature Australia’s tallest family thrill ride, the Sky Flyer XL, sending punters 60 metres skyward for unprecedented city views. More than 35 food trucks will keep the crowds fed, while the Moomba Masters water sports competition returns alongside nightly fireworks.
Lord Mayor Nick Reece says it best: “No one is too cool for Moomba, so drop the pretence and join the fun at Australia’s biggest free community festival.”
The Monarchs themselves are still pinching themselves. “It’s an incredible honour to be crowned 2025 Moomba Monarchs. We are proud Melburnians, and as three unlikely Italian boys from the suburbs, representing not only the city but the festival of Moomba is one of the highest honours we can receive,” they said.
