Hosted over 12 spectacular days, the festival aims to inspire a new generation of composers and draw attention to outstanding composers and artists in Australia and worldwide. Inspired by mythology and the cosmos this year, MNMF will welcome back Finnish conductor, pianist and composer Olli Mustonen, who will conduct three extraordinary orchestral programs, including Sibelius’ depiction of the forest god Tapiola and Frescoes of Dionysius.
Other highlights include Six Degrees’ visual installation Garden of Earthly Desire; The Ice Garden, a wintry wonderland inspired by Forest Collective’s Netherlandish and Finnish adventures, among many others.
