Melbourne’s chasing two world records in one night and needs you on stage

We Are The Voice is bringing a John Farnham singalong and a mass hypnosis attempt to Sidney Myer Music Bowl on 13 March.

We Are The Voice isn’t just gunning for the world’s largest John Farnham singalong at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl — it’s also calling for brave volunteers to help hypnotist entertainer Mark Anthony break a record of his own. Anthony will attempt to hypnotise the most people at one time on stage at the Bowl, and he needs willing participants to make it happen.

Presented by the Australian Book of Records, the evening lands on 13 March as a double-barrelled world record attempt. Thousands of Farnham fans are expected to pack the Bowl to form one enormous choir, belting out You’re The Voice and other classics in an official bid to set the record for the largest singalong to John Farnham songs. The event also raises funds and awareness for Head and Neck Cancer Australia, a cause close to Farnham following his own battle with oral cancer.

Steering the music is longtime collaborator Chong Lim as musical director, performing alongside the reunited Farnham Band — back together for the first time since Fire Fight Australia in 2020. Em Rusciano hosts the evening, while acclaimed choir master Jonathon Welch AM will conduct the entire audience as one massive singalong choir.

The guest lineup stacks up beyond the two record attempts. ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Jack Jones features alongside rising country vocalist Taylor Moss, Nerida Matthaei of the Crackup Sisters, Rachael Bostock, the Choir of Hard Knocks, and the Play it Forward Choir. Between the musical performances and the mass hypnosis, the night covers a fair bit of ground.

So whether you want to sing your lungs out for Farnham, get hypnotised on stage in front of thousands, or just watch the whole thing unfold from your seat — the Bowl is the place to be on 13 March.
