Melbourne To Get 24-Hour Public Transport on Weekends

In what might be a first in the history of Australian politics, an elected government is actually doing something they promised to do before the election.

Announced in the 2015-16 Victorian State Budget, Labor haved pledged $50 million towards a trial of 24-hour public transport on Friday and Saturday nights. The trial will be up and running by New Year’s Eve 2015.

Overseas cities such as Berlin, New York and Chicago all have 24-hour public transport services – and now Melbourne, assuming the trial is successful, will finally be the 24-hour city it claims to be.

Take that Sydney ya gronks.
