Featuring more than 40 events and over 100 guests across three massive days.
Returning for its sixth instalment, Melbourne Art Book Fair will bring a mammoth slate of books, guests and events to NGV International in March.
Taking place across three days, the annual event will transform NGV’s Great Hall into a haven for readers and art-lovers alike, with over 100 publishers showcasing books, magazines and zines. In addition to a huge range of reading material, Melbourne Art Book Fair will also feature a program bursting with lectures, workshops and performances.
In a program highlight, Moscow’s Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design will present a symposium titled The New Normal: New Models of Design in the Age of Global Computation, looking at creating new design voices in the face of shifting economics, politicals and cultural norms.
Another exciting addition to this year’s itinerary will see Pirate Radio broadcasting live from the Art Book Fair across the weekend with readings, reviews, music and a spread of literary guests.
The fair will prompt conversations about the future of publishing and reading with the likes of The Library of Nonhuman Books, an interactive vending machine inspired by the idea of a post-reading society which autonomously creates and publishes new books using artificial intelligence.
You can also expect to find musician and academic Simona Castricum delivering a lecture on sexuality and gender nonconformity in relation to architecture and safe spaces, Friendship Speed Dating, hosted by Ladies of Leisure, and much more across the three-day fair.
It’s going to be massive.
Melbourne Art Book Fair comes to NGV International from March Friday 13 – Sunday March 15. Find tickets and the full program here.
