On tour, she’ll be reimagining tracks from her albums Lazarus Drug, How to Tame Lions, Skeleton Key and Catherine Wheel – a live symphonic recording from the Opera House that has just been released today. She will also be debuting material from her yet-to-be-named forthcoming album, scheduled to drop in 2024.

Born in Papua New Guinea and raised in Brisbane, Meg Washington’s musical career has been varied. She developed a significant stutter in her youth but persevered as a jazz singer before branching out into RnB and roots, then finally settling on her distinct alternative, indie pop sound.

Her fourth studio album, 2020’s Batflowers, attracted rave reviews from critics and fans alike and was nominated for prestigious the 2020 Australian Music Prize. Following that, she dropped Hot Fuss in 2022, a piano-led cover album of The Killer’s iconic release that also featured a new original single, Eastcoaster.

Her venture with the trio of symphony orchestras is yet another example of how the artist refuses to let her work be constrained. Fans will be treated to a mesmerising evening of music that lends a new perspective to Meg Washington’s beloved discography.
