Route 19, 57 and 59 trams will see major service changes for three weeks in October, while several train lines face extended disruptions throughout September, October and November.

Road users won’t escape the chaos either. West Gate Freeway through Spotswood will see ongoing works from August to November, while the Tullamarine Freeway faces disruptions until mid-December. Eastern suburbs commuters will deal with Eastern Freeway closures in both September and November.
Northern Melbourne gets hit with M80 Ring Road works in Watsonia North and Greensborough Bypass disruptions, both scheduled for 19 to 22 September. Meanwhile, the south east faces multiple road projects including Princes Freeway works in Berwick running through to December.
Regional travellers using the Gippsland Line will need alternative transport during the August-September and October closure periods. These disruptions align with broader network maintenance occurring across Victoria’s transport system.
Planning ahead becomes crucial during this period of intensive infrastructure work. Melbourne commuters should check disruption maps before travelling and allow extra time for journeys. Public transport users may need to utilise replacement buses or alternative routes during closure periods.
