Maisie Peters along with supporting acts Dylan and Gretta Ray created an evening beyond what fans expected.

When The Good Witch flew all the way from the UK to perform during the last week of March, Margaret Court Arena was met with magic and ecstasy like never seen before.

The night started with beloved Melbourne indie singer-songwriter Gretta Ray bringing her gorgeous vocals and passionate stage presence – immediately the crowd was up from their seats. Playing favourites Drive and Vienna, the singer left the audience starving for more heartfelt and mesmerizing sing-alongs.

The rebellious and enigmatic Dylan followed it up with an explosive rock ‘n ‘roll opener that steadily surged towards a crescendo. Performing hits like No Romeo and You’re Not Harry Styles, the English musician demonstrated that she can bring the best of both worlds between ballads and bangers. Her set got the spectators even more pumped up for the main show.

Maisie took the stage with a full band, greeted by a pleasant reception of ear-piercing screams and high-spirited jumps. The pop star brought the energetic audience along on a journey full of heartbreak and self-exploration with tunes like Body Better, Not Another Rockstar and Lost The Breakup. Conducting a beautiful blend of pop, folk and country, she graced everyone present with a live performance they’ll never forget.

As well as the tried-and-true hits, the evening was not without a few gratifying surprises, from a stripped-back acoustic cover of Stick Season by Noah Kahan to a bolt-from-the-blue appearance by Aussie gem Peach PRC, who joined Maisie in a harmonious duet of her hit track, Josh.

When it seemed like the set was done and dusted, not one person searched for the exit. Instead, roars from the audience grew louder and louder as they waited for one last moment of sad girl pop glory. Their enthusiasm was met with the final surprise of the night: Maisie, Dylan, Peach and Gretta taking the stage together to sing the heart-wrenching History Of Man.

There’s a lot on the line for a star of Maisie’s calibre. At Margaret Court, she proved to die-hard fans (of which there were many) and newcomers alike why she’s earned her spot as one of pop’s most exciting figures, cementing another warm welcome in her next visit.
