Lanie Lane’s personality-rich alt-country twang here dissipates into a featherweight wash of indie schlock, a piecemeal of aural touchstones that coagulate into what sounds like a conceited ploy for j-play circa 2010. Hopefully this track is just a boring outlier, and the promise of Lanie’s debut wins out on the majority of upcoming LP Night Shade.
