Jazzhead Sundays Set to Launch at Lady Grange

The Jazzhead Sundays series are held at Lady Grange in St Kilda (1 Fitzroy St) and are set to take the music from Australia’s largest jazz label beyond jazz fans to a wider audience.

The first session is this Sunday (November 23) featuring The Feeling Groovies which features Jeff Raglus, Bruce Haymes, Tony Floyd and Lucas Taranto. They’ll be playing tracks from their jazzy funky latin album Crowd Pleaser.

November 30 will see The Beachniks perform their mix of sunshine psychedelic pop and roots reggae from their Trombone Bay album . They are made up of Jeff Raglus, Evan Jones and Randal Forsythe.

The acts to be announced (see jazzhead.com) will come both from Jazzhead and its parent company Head Records, and will also cover rock, pop, rhythm and blues and more. Intestate musicians visiting town will be invited for a blow. The idea is to feature the music with a view of the bay and glorious food and drinks.

Both Head and Jazzhead have released 150 albums in Australia and abroad.  These include names as Trichotomy, Anton Delecca Quartet, Barney McAll, Paul Williamson, Scott Tinkler, Kristin Berdadi, Mike Nock, Dodge and Nick Batterham. Head Records has released records by Stephen Cummings, The Black Sorrows, Stoney Joe, Dom Mariani & The Majestic Kelp and Nola’s Ark.
