Introducing Sojourn, the rooftop bar that’s just emerged in a hidden Melbourne laneway

Words by Kate Streader

This bright blue beauty is situated in the heart of the CBD.

Last week, Melburnians learned we’d be losing one of the CBD’s most iconic rooftop bars, Madame Brussels. But as one venue says goodbye, a new bar and eatery has flung its doors open in the heart of the city.

Tucked away just off Little Collins Street on New Chancery Lane, Sojourn is Melbourne’s new rooftop bar offering a unique dining experience.

What you need to know

  • Sojourn is situated in the CBD on New Chancery Lane
  • The venue is now taking bookings
  • It’s open Monday to Friday from 11am until 9pm for food and 4pm until 9pm for drinks

Check out Beat Eats for the latest Melbourne food and booze news.

Split into two levels, Sojourn’s level one eatery offers a bold menu focused on showcasing Victorian produce with inventive small, large, and share plates.

A mix of casual and creative menu items, you can grab a wagyu burger with Yarra Valley Dairy cheese, aioli, and caramelised onion; twice roasted Flinders Island lamb shoulder; or air-dried Blackmores wagyu bresaola served with truffled baby peaches.

Upstairs, you’ll find a rooftop bar showcasing a unique city view, serving imaginative cocktails and a selection of local beer, wine and spirits.

Featuring a striking electric blue colour scheme with pops of red and orange, this aesthetically pleasing new kid on the block is certain to catch the eye of passers-by.

Open five days a week from 11am until 9pm for food and from 4pm until 9pm for drinks, Sojourn is the perfect spot to grab lunch, dinner or after-work drinks next time you’re in the city.
