“No boundaries, no rules, no expectations.”

As far as entrances go, Rest For The Wicked’s has been impressive. The band’s recently-released first single, ‘Bones’, was met with wide acclaim. Following the stellar musical debut, their first headlining show at The Gaso sold out overnight.

Rest For The Wicked is a brand new musical venture from Melbourne heavyweight Ben Townsend – known for tour appearances with Wu-Tang Clan, Ice Cube, Azealia Banks and Peking Duk under his past moniker, Ivan Ooze – and Sydney based production whiz, Tasker, who counts G Flip, Alison Wonderland and Tia Gostelow amongst his producing repertoire.

Rest For The Wicked’s sound is distinctly genre-defying, melodic and evocative. ‘Bones’ is a hazy, colourful, kaleidoscopic track, grounded in lyrics which explore the hollow hallways of depression, how it feels to be imprisoned in your mind.

“’Bones’ is about not being afraid of what’s coming next. Sometimes the best method of madness is to give in to the overwhelming feeling of the fear you feel and mould it into something undeniably greater than yourself,” Townsend says.

Accompanied by a vibrant music video directed by Mushroom Creative, ‘Bones’ is an exciting taste of what’s to come for this new group.

While their first show in Melbourne quickly sold out, an extra early show has since been added, meaning there’s still a chance to catch Rest For The Wicked on their inaugural tour. The duo will also hit Sydney’s OAF Gallery on Friday August 20.

Catch Rest For The Wicked on Saturday August 7 at The Gaso. Grab tix here (only tickets to the early show still available).
