In Malice’s Wake

From: “Hellbourne! Victoria.”

When you first came together in 2002, what were your hopes for the band?

“Thrash metal supremacy.”

Where’s the band name come from?

“The themes of the music reflect the band name and represents and highlights the ugly nature of humankind and explores the inevitable apocalypse we are fast heading toward.”

The biggest strength of the band?

“We pride ourselves on an incredibly forceful, energetic and aggressive thrash metal onslaught.”

Greatest band achievement to date?
The Thrashening was a huge step forward in all areas. We believe it accurately represents our ravenous dedication and conviction.”

The Thrashening is your second album, how does it differ from the first?

The Thrashening will be one of the most notable releases of 2011 and will set a new standard for Australian heavy metal. Eight tracks of a full blown thrash assault. The music displays our total conviction and has very much an old school thrash feeling in comparison to Eternal Nightfall.

It’s being launched with a massive tour. How do you get prepared for such a hike around the country?

“The past few months have been hard. The constant pressures and time constraints of the recording… we’ve coordinated the entire Thrashening tour, we’re totally consumed trying to balance our work and life in between…Shaun our frontman is getting married this weekend (congratulations Shaun and Ali!), when he’s back it’s straight on a plane to Hobart to the first show of Thrashening Oceanic Assault tour. It’s definitely not for the faint hearted.”

How do In Malice’s Wake, as a band, work on the road?

“Between having a licensed pyrotechnician in the band as well as the alcohol-fuelled mayhem after the shows and everything in between I’m sure you couldn’t even imagine what goes on … I’m not disclosing any information which could be deemed, unsafe, illegal, unlawful or inappropriate.”

Well then, spruik your next gig/s:

“We’ll destroy our hometown on Good Friday April 22 at The Northcote Social Club with Desecrator, Randomorder, from Tassie, and Maniaxe.”
