The likes of Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Alice Skye, Elizabeth and Simona Castricum will perform at the much-anticipated event.

Music Victoria has just revealed the music lineup set to perform at the 2020 Music Victoria Awards and they haven’t disappointed.

Off the back of their stellar 2020 album, Sideways to New Italy, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever will take to the stage alongside much-loved singer-songwriter Alice Skye, the inimitable Elizabeth, as well as the incredible Simona Castricum, who herself released the fantastic Panic/Desire earlier this year.

Taking place on Wednesday December 9, the second instalment of the two-part Music Victoria Awards will be livestreamed and see a host of public-voted and industry-voted awards handed out.

Successful artists will be recognised for their 2020 achievements under the following public-voted banners: Best Album, Best Band, Best Song, Best Solo Artist, Best Musician, Best Breakthrough Act and Best Live Act.

Some of the nominees for these awards include the likes of Cable Ties and RVG (Best Album), Amyl & The Sniffers and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever (Best Band), while Baker Boy (‘Move’) and Mildlife (‘Rare Air’) are two of the names to have been nominated for Best Song.

For Best Solo Artist, a winner will be picked from ten accomplished nominees. Same goes for Best Musician, while Best Breakthrough Act and Best Live Act boast five nominees each.

The industry-voted awards set to be revealed on the night include Best Regional/Outer Suburban Act, the Archie Roach Foundation Award for Emerging Talent and a range of genre-specific awards such as Best Blues Album, Best Country Album, Best Electronic Act, Best Experimental or Avant-garde Act and more.

It comes after a host of awards were given out at October’s standalone Industry Awards night. Here, The Gasometer Hotel won best Best Small Venue while The Forum took home the gong for Best Large Venue.

Other awards saw Geelong’s Barwon Club Hotel honoured for Best Regional/Outer Suburban Venue (over 50 gigs per year) and the Theatre Royal in Castlemaine recognised for the same award but for venues hosting less than 50 gigs in a year.

Golden Plains also won Best Festival for the third year straight.

The 2020 Music Victoria Awards go down on Wednesday December 9 at Melbourne Recital Centre and can be viewed on Channel 31 and via the Music Victoria website.
