A surprise little treat in between albums, Dark & Stormy is typical Hot Chip fare – which is to say, pretty darn good. Carried by a big goofy bassline, the track features an even split in terms of vocal duties between Alexis and Joe. A sense of dread nullifies many of the danceable attributes and the band’s cheeky wit is gilded by a sardonic edge. Alexis’s possible double entendre of “I offer you this organ” is delivered with impeccable deadpan.
