To celebrate 40 years of playing live.

Hoodoo Gurus are heading out on tour to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their live existence, harking all the way back to their first gig in 1981. They’ll be joined by The Dandy Warhols for five dates across the country, including a show at Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

As part of the tour, the band will play shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth, with the tour kicking off on Wednesday December 1 at Brisbane’s Riverstage, before the band hit Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Friday December 3 for show two.

“We are thrilled to be going around Australia to play for our fans again. Even better, we are honoured to be accompanied by our admirable friends, The Dandy Warhols from the US,” Hoodoo Gurus said in a statement.

“Between the two of us, there are gonna be plenty of opportunities for crowd singalongs, and after the turmoil of the last year and a half, that’s gonna be incredibly therapeutic for everyone. You can be certain that both of our bands will be fired up and rarin’ to go.”

The Dandy Warhols need no introduction themselves. With seminal albums to their name – Welcome to the Monkey House, Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia and …The Dandy Warhols Come Down, just to name a few – they have established themselves as indie icons.

The tour announcement coincides with a new single from Hoodoo Gurus. ‘World of Pain’ is a bursting rock’n’roll number that tells the story of a raucous night on the town, where the song’s subject continues to make the same dubious decisions when out and about.

Hoodoo Gurus perform at Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Friday December 3. General tickets go on sale here from 2pm AEST, Friday May 28.
