New Orleans funk-soul collective Tank and the Bangas stole our hearts when they unanimously won NPR’S TinyDesk Contest earlier this year with their magical live performance. The band combines hip hop’s poetry with R&B sounds and radiate a ton of energy through their fun, funky tunes. Their single ‘Quick’ is a cheeky, fast-paced clash of spoken word and music. Known as a distinctive group of musical innovators, Tank and the Bangas have performed alongside Norah Jones and Chance the Rapper. For the first time ever, the five-piece will tour Australia, stopping in Melbourne at Howler on Wednesday March 7, 2018. Tickets are bound to sell out quick.

Soul Island’ is the brand new track by sweet soul artist Nasty Mars. An ode to the sun, with beachy vibes and laid-back beats, the song will wisp you away from your daily grind and take you on a journey through an endless summer night. It’s been a while since Nasty Mars dropped the visuals for his last single ‘Liona’, which became an immediate hit in the local neo-soul community. With his fresh sound and unique style, Nasty Mars is one of the leading pioneers of soul music in Australia.

It’s time for one of the best open mic nights in Melbourne. Summer Jam and All You Can Spit have come together to showcase some of the most talented up-and-coming hip hop emcees of this generation. With support from indie record label Alt Music Group, the night is set to be one of the biggest hip hop performances of 2017. Cylo will take to the stage, belting out songs from their successful debut LP Arc 1:Jenesis. The latest bangers by Yaw Faso will takeover your summer playlist and Francois will perform his latest singles ‘LastDolla’ and ‘GrowingPains’. Other performers on the night include Stringaz, TBone, Little Jase, Mac Eleven, Trix William and Brandon Stone, alongside DJ sets by Mex, Shumba and Sipreme. Make sure to head on down to Summer Jam this Thursday November 16 at Laundry Bar.

Sunny D Promotions presents the Bring the Noise Hip-Hop Party. Melbourne emcee Braidz has been rapping for ten years, making music with the like of Hopsin, Mini Coop and many more. No stranger to the stage, he’ll be joined by fellow rappers Zhane White, Kryptic and CamDogg. Catch your favourite Aussie hip hop acts at Grumpys, Thursday November 30.
