After a two-year hiatus since 2015’s experimental, hardcore hip hop success Cherry Bomb, controversial oddball Tyler, The Creator has announced his fourth studio album Scum Fuck Flower Boy. The Odd Future ringleader just dropped a gory music video for his brand new track Who Dat Boy, featuring A$AP Rocky. Directed by Tyler’s alter ego Wolf Haley, the shockingly vibrant visuals distract from the horrors of seeing Tyler as a mad scientist with his face blown off. The clip abruptly ends with a snippet of Tyler’s new song 911/Mr. Lonely, featuring the fantastic Frank Ocean. Scum Fuck Flower Boy arrives Friday July 21. Keep an eye out for Tyler’s new Viceland show Nuts + Bolts, which premieres next month.

After releasing a series of successful hard-hitting trap bangers, WVS signee Travy P has dropped his eight-track E.P, P.O.I.N.T. (Photos Of Images Never Taken). The Queensland rapper delivers a sonically impressive collection of heavy hip hop hits, with each song meticulously refined by producer Miracle. P.O.I.N.T. begins with Summer 88, a song laced with wavy synths and slick lyrics. After the faded hazy sounds of the second track Stoned Alone, we’re treated to Travy P’s dark and sexy Sleep Over featuring 360. Real Estate is an intense banger that echoes the rappers dreams of grandeur, while haunting circus vibes surround the dark-sided Devils Disco. Dial Up is the closest to a love song we’ll get from Travy P, with soothing vocals supplied by fellow Brisbane artist JOY.

UK hip hop artist Rydah has also released his debut E.P, KAZUKO. The up-and-coming rapper already dropped two intoxicating singles – party-starter Kuzuko and the trippy, high-energy trap track 4UP. Rydah’s album release party takes place this Friday  July 14 at Laundry Bar from 8pm and will feature live performances by Motley, Mistah Mez, Empress and more.

For the alternative hip hop heads, Melbourne-based producer Tentendo (AKA Caleb Williams) has dropped his slinky debut single One Stop Shop. Tentendo melds electronica, hip hop and neo-soul into a lush, jazz-infused jam with a mysterious female vocalist contrasting the squishy synths and glitchy samples. Tentendo’s sound is influenced by the likes of Kaytranada, D’Angelo and Flying Lotus.  He’s no stranger to the music scene as the producer and bassist for Melbourne outfit Billy Davis & the Good Lords and a member of music collective Bad Opera.

You can catch Tentendo at Bad Opera: Act 2, which will be hosted at Howler on Saturday August 12. Featuring some of the biggest names in Melbourne’s hip hop and R&B scene including Crooked Letter, JANEVA, Nasty Mars and RINI, it’ll be a massive night filled with the sweet sounds of soul. Also, make sure not to miss Billy Davis & the Good Lords at The Night Cat on Saturday July22. The 11-piece neo-soul band is bound to impress and will be joined by talented DJ MzRizk as well as new Afro-funk crew Cool Out Sun
