This Friday July 14 sees The Night Cat hosting a live lineup of dark, sexy electronica with BV, friendships, Habits and Wahe. Each of these acts has had a solid couple of years, playing festivals and gaining notoriety within the scene for twisted sounds and heckers good party times. I wouldn’t be surprised if this sells out, so get onto tickets now.

Also on Friday at Hugs&Kisses, Animals Dancing are back and ready to get loose with DJ Normal 4 – who’s finally here for his rescheduled tour. As both a DJ and producer, DJ Normal 4 has one foot in the fields of the proto-rave sounds of the early ‘90s and one in the house sounds emanating from Düsseldorf, Lyon, London and The Hague today. Having been part of the community of DJs playing at Düsseldorf’s coveted Salon Des Amateurs for some time, 2016 saw the first DJ Normal 4 records combine breakbeat, electro and trance-not-trance elements with his house hybrid on Luca Lozano and Mr Ho’s Berlin based Klasse Wrecks and Lyon’s BFDM records. Local support comes from Andee Frost and Otologic. It’s gonna be a big one.

Over at Boney, Melbourne Techno Collective are back in action for a new series of parties called TECHNO. Yes, very imaginative guys, but I guess it gets the message across. To launch with a bang – or in this case a resounding ‘untz’ – is ACM bringing his live set with his big-rig and DJs Vohkinne, Matt Radovich, Ed Thomas, PWD, TheCamiloS and Consoles. That’s a fucking solid lineup of local techno combining a few different styles, so get on down. Kicks off at 10pm, no presales.

Friday also sees Glamorama hosting UK house DJ T. Williams. Williams’ unique take on house music can probably be attributed to a stint as a grime DJ early in his career, discovering his love for house around 2010, T.Williams’ crossover sound has been the catalyst for his success. Not only rife with groove and feeling, but meticulously produced and engineered. Support comes from DJ Camov and more to be announced.

On Saturday July 15, it’s time for a boogie as GL are launching their double-A-side single Destiny/Reflect at the Corner Hotel. Channelling that ‘80s disco/pop/synth-funk sound (they always remind me of Deniece Williams’ Lets Hear It For The Boy), the duo are as dancefloor friendly as it gets and after a year spent playing gigs like Laneway Festival and touring with Nick Murphy, they should be in fine form. On support duties is Fortunes. and Colette.

On Sunday July 16, Brown Alley is hosting a day-to-night party called Benefaction. Kicking off at 1pm, the day features Urv, Kultrun (Rework/Soma), Paul Lynch & Eskapet (Autosea) and Feema manning the decks, then Adrian Bell, DJ Kiti, Hyper Binary and Concealed drive it home ‘til 9.30pm. 100% of the proceedings made from the entry fee will be donated directly to The Karen Curnow Women in Environmental Protection & Litter Prevention Memorial Fund.
