Life.Lair.Regret Records have announced the upcoming release of a live album by Melbourne hardcore heavyweights Rebirth. The recording will be of the band’s final performance at Footscray’s Phoenix Youth Centre earlier this year. Entitled Rebirth Live: The Final Act of Defiance, the cassette only release is available now on the Life.Lair.Regret webstore.
Central Coast hardcore band Choke have announced they will be breaking up, with a final show announced for this August. The band recently released the Desire 7” single through Resist, likely to be the band’s final output. From the band, “Thanks to no one and fuck anyone who doubted us.”
Sydney skate punks The Phosphorus Bombs have announced the release of their debut album. Entitled Cancers, the full length was self-produced by the band, with final mixing done by Jason Livermore at Blasting Room Studios. Due out on Thursday July 27, the band has released lead single We Remain, available to stream online now.
In massive tour news, long-running sludge lords Melvins and power-pop punks Redd Kross have announced a joint tour of Australia. With bass player Steven McDonald (also of hardcore supergroup OFF!) playing bass for both bands, the tour will mark both bands’ first tours of Australia in over four years. Melvins and Redd Kross will play Max Watt’s on Wednesday November 8. Tickets are available now.
Following months of heavy international touring, Melbourne’s The Living End have announced a one-off benefit show at The Croxton. Raising funds for Wild 2 Free Animal Sanctuary in NSW – run by the band’s manager Rae Harvey – the funds will go towards rebuilding the sanctuary that was partly destroyed by fire last year. Frontman Chris Cheney explains, “Rae Harvey has managed TLE for 20 years and aside from being a great manager and friend, she’s also been incredibly passionate about the wellbeing and protection of animals. When her dream of opening up an animal shelter literally went up in flames a year ago, naturally we wanted to help. The funds from this gig will go directly towards setting up Wild 2 Free.” Tickets for the show are available now, with additional donations to the shelter available to be made at wild2free.org.au.
Long-running Melbourne ska punks The Resignators have announced the upcoming release of a new album. Entitled Party Dates, the album is due out on Friday September 8. The band has also announced a release show at Cherry Bar on the same night with special guests Admiral Ackbar’s Dishonourable Discharge. The band has already released a lead single of the same name and are currently preparing to tour the UK later this month.
