Brisbane singer/songwriter Harriette Pilbeam, better known as Hatchie, has taken out this year’s Levi’s Music Prize, landing herself $25,000 as part of the award.

After Hatchie’s breakout year in 2017, which saw her performing at BIGSOUND, Hatchie has been on the upward, releasing her debut singles ‘Sure’ and ‘Try’ before touring internationally and performing at SXSW. This year has seen the release of her EP Sugar & Spice, with the single ‘Sleep’ from the EP named Pitchfork‘s Best New Track.

The Levi’s Music Prize is a quarterly prize which aims to give up and coming artists financial support in order to continue to grow their careers in music. All artists who have performed at BIGSOUND within the past five years are eligible for the award, the last of which for this year will be drawn on Friday September 6.
