The chart-topping debut caps off what’s been a runaway success for Wally de Backer, marking the first time in a long while that mulit-platinum British powerhouse Adele has been knocked off the number one postition. Not only that, but Gotye’s breakthrough sophomore LP Like Drawing Blood has re-entered the charts at number 19.
With the number one album and single, Gotye has proven to be one of the most resounding crossover successes in recent memory, ruling alternative and commerical airwaves alike, wnining over indie kids and their mothers alike.
As of writing, Somebody That I Used To Know has clocked up three and a half million (!) views on Youtube. (Go on, give it a few more playthroughs above. You know you wanna.)
