Brooklyn-based performance artist heads down under for second Australian tour.

Genre-defying vocalist and performance artist Joseph Keckler is returning to Australia for a national tour, following his successful debut run alongside No Wave legend Lydia Lunch in March 2024.

The New York Times-celebrated performer, lauded as “a major talent who shatters conventional boundaries,” brings his unique blend of operatic prowess and rock sensibilities to venues across the country, including a headline show at Brunswick Ballroom.

Tour dates:

  • Brunswick Ballroom, Melbourne
  • February 20, 2025 (doors 6:30pm, show 8pm)

Keckler has carved out a distinctive niche in contemporary performance, bridging the gaps between classical opera, experimental art, and alternative music. His repertoire includes haunting ballads and self-described “ambiguously autobiographical arias” that explore everything from supernatural encounters to psychedelic experiences.

The upcoming Brunswick Ballroom performance offers both general admission tickets at $43.96 and premium reserved seating with meal packages at $84.76. The venue is operating at full capacity with social table options available for premium ticket holders.

Keckler’s previous Australian tour saw him commanding sold-out houses at prestigious venues including Melbourne Recital Centre and Phoenix Central Park, while also securing a guest host spot on ABC’s RAGE. His distinctive stage presence and powerful vocal range have earned him support slots for influential acts including Sleater-Kinney and Animal Collective, as well as performances at New York’s Lincoln Centre.

The performer’s appeal extends beyond traditional opera circles, with appearances on NPR’s Tiny Desk series helping to cement his reputation as a boundary-pushing artist. His latest Australian shows promise new material alongside favourites from his previous tour, showcasing the versatility that has made him a standout figure in contemporary performance art.

Tickets are available now through official outlets, with both general admission sales and premium dinner packages closing on February 20. The event is restricted to audiences 18 years and over, with additional booking fees applying to all ticket types. Book here.
