Eight weeks out from the Grand Prix, a new motorsport festival called Live Fast is going to roar into action at Docklands, before moving to Carlton.
Live Fast festival will first and foremost be a festival for revheads, boasting a huge showcase of exotic and vintage cars (including access to the Fox Classic Car Collection Museum) and a bunch of related family-friendly activities.
You’ll be able to get a up close and personal with a 2022 F1 car, which will double as a chance to get to grips with the competition’s obsessions with tweaks, modifications, minor new details and regulation requirements near the beginning of the new season.

You’ll also be able to jump behind the wheel of the E-Grand Prix simulator, and there’ll be the usual motorsport festival suspects: the Holden EH Car Club of Victoria, Melbourne Old School Cruisers, Vivid Car Club Inc, the Mustang Owners Club, the Porsche Club of Victoria and the Melbourne Cobra Owners Club.
But for a wider audience, there’ll also be an array of emerging music, a selection of the best food trucks. The festival will be split up into two locations, first heading to Collins Street in Docklands on Saturday and Sunday, 5 and 6 March 2022.
Then, a fortnight later it’ll be heading to Carlton as a means of putting some spark into two Melbourne suburbs that suffered during the pandemic, popping up shop in Argyle Street and Lygon Street on Saturday, 19 March and Sunday, 20 March, and then again the following weekend on Saturday, 26 March and Sunday, 27 March.
It’s also a chance to try and engage the Melbourne public more broadly in the F1 Grand Prix, with relatively low attendances and the high taxpayer cost of staging the event (not to mention the noise) leading to constant pressure, and annual ploys from the NSW state government to nab it up north.

Now the Live Fast Festivals will give fans the opportunity to once again immersive themselves in the sport as we welcome the return of Formula 1 to Albert Park.
