Tasmania's beloved Festival of Voices returns this July.

Bringing together an eclectic mix of world-class artists, community singalongs, intimate performances and hands-on workshops across Hobart and beyond, Festival of Voices is back.

Whether you’re a seasoned singer or someone who only hums in the shower, there’s something here for every voice.

Country pub chorus: The Wolfe Brothers

The Wolfe Brothers are hitting the road for two afternoons of classic country pub singalongs across the state.

No auditions, no nerves, just a bunch of people coming together over songs everyone knows and loves. Lyrics are provided, so all you need to do is show up ready to sing.

Speed dating with composers workshop and concert

A genuinely unique offering, this two-part event pairs a full-day workshop with a one-night-only concert.

Singer-songwriters Daniel J Townsend, Jenny Mitchell and Meg Washington guide participants through an immersive day of collaboration and music-making, before workshop participants join the artists on stage to perform what they’ve learned.

An evening with David Campbell

Cabaret, charm and classic songs in an intimate setting.

David Campbell strips things back, swapping the big band for a trio, to deliver an up-close performance full of timeless material from Bobby Darin, Johnny O’Keefe and more. Expect storytelling, soul and that signature voice.

Lior with string quartet

  • 8 July, 7.30 pm, Theatre Royal

One of Australia’s most celebrated singer-songwriters takes to the Theatre Royal stage alongside Strings on Fire for a warm, chamber-style evening.

Lior performs reimagined selections from his catalogue, including fan favourites This Old Love and Daniel, wrapped in lush string arrangements. Intimate, elegant and not to be missed.

Club Broadway

The glitter-drenched musical theatre party comes to Hobart’s Grand Poobah.

Fresh from sell-out nights around the country, Club Broadway invites fans to sing, dance and relive their favourite showtunes on a full club sound system, hosted by DJ Dan Murphy. Expect hits from Hamilton, Wicked, Six, Chicago, Rent, Disney and more.

Costumes are very much encouraged.

Apple Shed Shindig

After selling out last year, the Apple Shed Shindig is back at Willie Smith’s Apple Shed for another night of singing, dancing and community warmth.

Led by choir legend Rose Wilson and folk band WolfeFolk, the evening kicks off with a three-part harmony arrangement of Mumford & Sons’ I Will Wait, performed with a live six-piece band.

The night then rolls into traditional Tasmanian tunes, bluegrass, and crowd singalongs including I Will Survive and Mamma Mia! No experience required, just enthusiasm.

Sing ‘n Sip

Two relaxed, feel-good singalong sessions designed for everyone, regardless of experience.

Join Australia’s favourite piano man Trevor Jones for Sing It!, an interactive session where the audience helps choose the setlist, or settle in for a session with Travis Hennessy, featuring vocal warm-ups, easy arrangements and plenty of good cheer.

Lyrics provided, drinks in hand, come to one or make a weekend of it.

Five intimate evenings at the Peacock Theatre shining a light on Tasmania’s emerging singers and ensembles.

Xani

An afternoon and evening dedicated to the creative possibilities of sound.

Begin with the Xani Looping Workshop at 2.00 pm, exploring improvisation and looping with voice or instrument, before heading into Xani + Machine at 7.00 pm, a high-energy live performance layering strings, violin and electronic effects into an immersive sonic experience.

Tom Thum

The world-renowned beatbox phenomenon brings two events to the festival.

Catch his headline show at Altar Bar, where he conjures entire sonic worlds using nothing but his voice, from orchestral sweeps to jazz and techno, before joining budding beatboxers at the Youth Arts & Recreation Centre for a hands-on workshop open to all.
