Melbourne's most iconic bass event is coming back in 2026, and it's moving outdoors for the first time.
The DOT has just announced its Melbourne return for Saturday, 3 January with a brand new outdoor site in Footscray, marking a major shift for the festival that’s been dialling into the heart of bass culture for years.
Details are still thin on the ground; no lineup announced yet, no specific venue confirmed, but the signal is clear: something big is brewing.
What we do know is that the new outdoor location in Footscray will be powered by a couple of Melbourne’s most loved sound systems, suggesting the kind of serious bass infrastructure that’s made DOT a fixture on the city’s electronic music calendar. Moving outside opens up possibilities for the kind of scale and setup that indoor venues can’t match, especially in the middle of summer when Footscray’s industrial edges come alive.

Pre-sale ticket access for the Footscray festival ends tomorrow (Tuesday 28 October) at 9pm, which means anyone keen to lock in early entry needs to move fast. General sale details haven’t been announced yet, so pre-sale might be the only guaranteed way in before more information drops.
DOT has built its reputation on bringing together the kind of lineup that speaks directly to bass heads; the people who know the difference between a good sound system and a great one, who care about the weight and texture of low end as much as the names on the bill.
Moving to an outdoor site in Footscray suggests they’re doubling down on that commitment, creating space for the kind of immersive experience that’s become harder to find as Melbourne’s nightlife landscape shifts.
Summer 2026 is shaping up to be significant for Melbourne’s bass scene, and DOT’s return with a new outdoor format in Footscray could set the tone for how the city’s electronic music community gathers in the months ahead.
For now, though, it’s all about that pre-sale window closing tomorrow night.
