Festival X cancelled for second-straight year

Festival X

Australian EDM event Festival X has been cancelled for the second straight year, rescheduled to a yet-unspecified date in 2022.

The Festival, which only launched in 2019 and brought mainstream EDM acts to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, has been one of the hardest-hit festival casualties of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What you need to know

  • Festival X 2021 cancelled, pushed back to 2022
  • Festival X 2020 was also cancelled due to the COVID-19 restrictions
  • The organisers have thrown their weight behind the #vaxthenation campaign

“We would love nothing more than to bring you the Festival X we all love, but with the vaccine roll out progressing more slowly than we’d like, and due to ongoing uncertainties and challenges that Covid presents, it’s going to be impossible this year,” the organisers said in a statement.

“By next year, the majority of the population will be vaccinated, international talent will be able to enter the country freely, and we will be able to put on a Festival X, bigger like you’ve never seen before.

“Our thoughts are with any of you effected by the recent outbreak and those doing it tough in lockdown. We thank the Festival X community for your continued love, support, loyalty – stay safe.

PS: Vaccinations are not only important for overall public health but an essential step in stopping the ongoing and devastating effect on our communities.  Every jab makes a difference, and everyone can play their part – Vax Now to stop the interruptions and do your bit to #vaxthenation so we can get back to doing what we love – vaxthenation.com.au”
