Well if it isn’t my old friends Eskimo Joe, who I feel are possibly the worst band to emerge unscathed from the Oz indie scene of the late nineties. Continuing their unfettered success in the realms of soulless chart rock, Love Is A Drug is a shallow but bombastic tune with airy lyrics (“Love is a drug but the drug won’t take me higher” – what does that even mean?) and a mechanically functional melodic hook. They know how to write a hit song for the masses, I’ll give ’em that much.
