Ella Ion will play three free Melbourne shows in July before heading to BIGSOUND.
The fragmented-folk musician from Adelaide will perform a full band show on 7 July as part of Social Sanctuary at Northcote Social Club, joined by Cat Scratch and Ccino, the new folk duo of Leah Senior and Zoe Fox. Ella Ion will then take up a solo front bar residency at The Tote on two Friday nights in July.
Freshly returned from her second European run of the year, which included showcasing at The Great Escape and support slots with Folk Bitch Trio and Big Sleep, Ella Ion will spend July in Melbourne before heading back for Green Man Festival in Wales and a number of soon to be announced UK and European shows.

Following her Melbourne shows, Ella Ion will return to Australia to play BIGSOUND in September. The Adelaide-based artist recently supported Suki Waterhouse as part of Rising Festival, which led her back to Melbourne for these winter performances.
With the release of two-track Map and Creature Skin in May, her first release since 2023 album Waiting, Ion is determined to disrupt the circuit of tension that was bubbling throughout her debut LP. Creature Skin was added to eight Spotify editorial playlists and was premiered on the triple j Unearthed podcast.
Drawing on influences of indie-rock, folk and country, her eloquent lyricism and masterful musical control delivers a cacophony of raw emotion, anchored by grit and heart. Ion has already amassed a loyal following across Australia, having played at a plethora of prolific venues, events and shows.
From intimate encounters of tender folk to electrifying post-rock arrangements, Ion demonstrates her ability to transform a room with her magnetic stage presence, considered songwriting and angelic vocal range. All grown up, she’s no longer content with waiting and is chasing after what she wants on her own terms.
