VMDO will support five Victorian record labels to attend A2IM Indie Week and Indie-Con in Adelaide.

The Victorian Music Development Office and AIR will provide successful applicants with a $1500 bursary to support their attendance at the industry events running from 30 July to 1 August. The investment is intended to cover a reduced-price ticket, return flight to Adelaide and accommodation for three nights.

VMDO will select the successful applicants considering diversity of labels, potential impact on business and capacity among other factors. Any independent record label based in Victoria is eligible to apply for the A2IM Indie Week and AIR’s Indie-Con and Awards delegation.

The bursary represents an opportunity for Victorian labels to connect, grow and build new markets through the combined industry events. A2IM Indie Week focuses on the independent music sector, while AIR’s Indie-Con brings together industry professionals from across Australia’s independent music scene.

The initiative demonstrates VMDO’s commitment to supporting the state’s independent music industry by providing access to professional development and networking opportunities that might otherwise be financially prohibitive for smaller labels.

Victorian record labels interested in participating in the delegation can submit their applications through the VMDO website. The organisation will announce the five successful recipients on 8 July, giving labels time to prepare for the Adelaide events.

The program builds on VMDO’s broader mandate to strengthen Victoria’s music industry through targeted support initiatives and professional development opportunities for local music businesses.
